Easy Strawberry Crumble

easy strawberry crumble

A crumble is a popular British dish that is most similar to a pie and consists of two parts: a juicy filling (most often fruit or berry) and a crispy crust made from flour, butter and sugar, which is ground into crumbs. As for me, this easy strawberry crumble is a perfect dessert for when guests come unexpectedly.

Crumble is very simple and quick to prepare, using ingredients that are almost always available at home. Both fresh seasonal fruits or berries and frozen ones are suitable for crumble.

The fruits for the filling are usually heated in a saucepan with sugar to give off excess liquid. This way, the finished crumble won’t be too soggy.

You can diversify the shortbread crumbs by adding oatmeal or almond flakes, nut flour, coconut flakes, brown sugar.

Today we are going to make an oatmeal crumble. The recipe differs from the classic one only by adding oatmeal, that’s all the magic! And it turns out to be much more interesting and healthy.

The amount of ingredients given is for an average baking dish (I use a 15×23 cm glass dish), which makes about 6 servings of strawberry crumble.

The dessert will not be too sweet – only 70 g of sugar for 700-1000 g of strawberries plus other products.

Ingredients:

strawberries (fresh or frozen)
sugar
butter
all-purpose flour
oatmeal (can be replaced with almonds)

  1. Boil strawberries with 20 g of sugar in a saucepan.
  2. Grind the flour, butter, sugar and oatmeal (or almond) flakes into crumbs with the help of a food processor.
  3. Put the strawberries from the saucepan on the bottom of the baking dish (reserve the strawberry syrup, for example, for lemonade). Cover with crumbs on top. Bake for 25–30 minutes at 200ºC.

That’s it! That’s it, can you imagine? Just three actions!

Serve the strawberry crumble hot, with a scoop of ice cream. Or eat it with a spoon right out of the mold.

Enjoy your meal!
